Handmade Chawan Black Ningyo Doll Design Matcha Cup Japanese Tea Bowl

This handmade chawan tea cup bowl features an incredible image of Japanese history and culture, and is made with quality materials and careful artistry, making it the ideal vessel for your Japanese tea.

Modern tea cup bowls often feature popular designs from the past. This chawan features a design by Ninsei, a famous potter from Kyoto who lived in the 1600s. The design features dolls of the Japanese Emperor and Empress, like the kind that would be displayed on Hina Matsuri (Doll's Day). The vibrant red, blue and gold design contrasts against the luxurious black chawan in a way that makes the cup look exceptionally refined.

This chawan tea bowl has been handmade by an expert potter from Kyoto with decades of experience, so you can rest-assured that it's an exceptional quality, traditional Japanese tea cup.
